November 3rd, 2012

BELIEVE that Jesus is born.  BELIEVE that salvation has come.

Martin Luther in one of his Christmas sermons said there were three miracles that occurred in Christ’s birth:

1. God became human

2. A virgin conceived

For Luther, the greatest miracle was this third miracle - Mary BELIEVED.

And now, I pose the question - Do you BELIEVE?

If you BELIEVE we are celebrating a miraculous truth in Jesus’ birth into our  world, You, BELIEVE you are saved from sin and the power of death. You BELIEVE in eternal salvation.

So what?  How are we living it this Christmas?

Are we trying to make Christmas perfect with material things?

Are we trying to make people love us?

If the answer to those two questions is yes …Yes, I am trying to make Christmas perfect by giving all the right gifts, fixing all the right food, trying to make everything sparkly, trying to do it all so everyone will be happy and love me and love each other.

If so - Stop!

BELIEVE and let God bathe you in the light of Christ as you cherish the birth of the baby in the manger. Because only God through Jesus can make it all perfect and make love possible.

Only God can bring the peace that surpasses all understanding.

Let us BELIEVE and respond in love in what we way and do. Let go of selfish agendas!

BELIEVE  and know that God’s love is the only agenda we need this Christmas.

Like Mary, take time to “treasure” the beauty of Jesus’ birth and “ponder” it’s deep significance in our lives.

BELIEVE and treasure this wonderful event, and in doing this we are acknowledging God’s presence and involvement in our lives.

BELIEVE and go in love!
