Welcome to First Lutheran Church

We are a member of the Nebraska Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America that is striving to become what our Lord desires us to be by building a community for Christ. At First Lutheran we are accomplishing this by Extending the light of Christ into our community, to those who are hurting and in need of God’s presence in their lives; by Encouraging people to grow spiritually and become the people that God desires them to be; by Equipping God’s people to do the work of ministry and grow in relationship with God; and by Exalting our Lord Jesus Christ in all aspects of our church ministries, worship services, and our daily lives. (Ephesians 4, Matthew 28)

We offer worship services that are both liturgical and a blend of traditional and contemporary styles that seek to reach all age groups. God’s Word is central to whom we are as a church and God’s truths are joyfully proclaimed. Come, join God’s people at First Lutheran and grow with us, as we become what our Lord desires us to be.

Our vision is to Build a Community for Christ within the Greater Omaha area in which all are welcome - a place where all individuals and families can grow and flourish in faith and discover God’s plan for their lives.

First Lutheran Church is a Reconciling in Christ Congregation. As such, we are a community of the people of God and are called to minister to and with our neighbors. We are challenged and called by the Gospel to be agents of healing and change within our society, breaking down barriers and restoring relationships. Often restoration and reconciliation are needed between the Christian church and people of faith who have been marginalized by misinterpretations, misunderstandings and even deliberate distortions of the Holy Scriptures.

We affirm with the apostle Paul that in Christ “there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female” (Galatians 3:28). Christ has made us one. We acknowledge this reconciliation extends to ALL PEOPLE, regardless of their age, race, abilities, gender, gender identities or sexual orientation.

It is for this purpose that we affirm the following:

  • that ALL PEOPLE share the worth that comes from being unique individuals created by God;
  • that ALL PEOPLE are welcome within the membership of this congregation upon making a common, public affirmation of faith; and
  • that as members of this congregation, ALL PEOPLE are expected and encouraged to share in the sacramental and general life of this congregation.

We are called to worship, to be faithful disciples of Christ, to live out the Gospel message of grace, and to share in the life of this community of Christians as fully as we are able during our sojourn together.

“I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.” ~ Philippians 4:13
